When someone who was a vital part of our world leaves, time doesn’t just stop; it brutally shatters. A distinct line appears, separating the "before" and the "after." In a single moment, we are thrown into a reality we never wanted and for which nobody prepared us.The loss of someone closest to you is not just a longing for a person who is physically gone. You and that person are still in the same world, yet separated by a chasm that cannot be crossed. This marks the beginning of a much deeper, destructive revolution that tears us apart from the inside out and strikes at the very core of our identity.

**A Double Void: Longing for Them and for Your Former Self**

A black hole forms in the place where a shared life used to exist. However, this void has two faces. On one hand, it is the agonizing absence of the other human being—their voice, their touch, their presence. On the other hand, we discover with horror that the version of ourselves that we liked and knew left right along with that person. We long for the person who knew how to laugh without a care. We long for our innocence, our sense of security, and our belief that the world is predictable. That version of you is never coming back. Looking in the mirror, you see a stranger—an architect standing over the ruins of their own interior. It is a double grief: you mourn the departure, and you mourn yourself.

**A Labyrinth of Questions and the Sentence of Years of Silence**

The most exhausting battle, however, does not rage on the outside, but inside your head. Questions wander through the mind constantly, questions that nobody wants to answer. Why? How is this possible? What went wrong? Was everything that came before a lie?The turmoil in your head is amplified by the fact that these questions bounce off a deaf wall. The deepest, most gut-wrenching pain comes from knowing that you are being punished with silence by the very person you trusted so deeply. It is unimaginably sad and hurtful when someone who was your entire world chooses to feed you with silence for years on end. This silence isn't a temporary phase—it becomes a permanent state, a conscious torture stretched out over time. The person who knew your secrets suddenly cuts you off from the truth, sentencing you to years of guesswork. With each passing year, this silence weighs more, becoming a wall that cannot be breached.

**Awakening on Scorched Earth**

And then comes the day when a brutal shift occurs. You set down your millionth glass of whiskey, wake up from years of pain-numbing intoxication, and suddenly see everything with terrifying clarity. It is the moment you realize how deeply this darkness has dragged you under. For years, you lived under the impression that the gloom and the silence were entirely the other person's fault. But looking in the mirror after years of emotional lethargy, you uncover a frightening truth: the very darkness they planted in you was, from your end, eagerly fed and nurtured by you. You started to take care of that darkness. It became your shield, your safe, yet toxic refuge. You wake up in the morning as if from a monstrous, prolonged dream and look around. Everywhere you look—you see nothing but scorched earth. This is the real, terrifying price paid for years of your anger, aggression, fear, and unprocessed pain. In a frenzy of destruction, driven by the fury of a broken heart, you burned bridges, relationships, and your own future. And here lies the greatest paradox of this journey to the bottom. Never before, through all those dark years, had you felt such a powerful, strange, and magnetic force inside yourself. Darkness possesses something drawing about it. Suffering is addictive because it exempts you from the duty of building everything anew. You stand on these ashes, and though everything around you is ruined, that raw force inside you says just one thing: you survived the worst.

**Anger, Aggression, and the Destructive Force of a Broken Heart**

Because before this awakening could happen, a tsunami had to tear through your bleeding soul. True grief over someone who vanished from our lives and cut us off with a heavy line is ugly, loud, and ruthless. This helplessness breeds a massive, destructive energy.A blind anger arises against fate, against the injustice of the world, against the fact that this person made such a choice. This accumulated fury turns into internal aggression—a desire to smash things, to scream until you run out of breath, and to hurt those who try to get close. A broken heart can burn like a live fire and turn everything around it to ash. A soul that bleeds screams in rage first, before it understands that it is also burning itself.

**Returning to the Light. In the Footsteps of a Broken Man**

From the other bank of this river, somewhere beneath the thick layer of ash from the scorched earth, something new begins to happen. This is no charming fairy tale about fixing what cannot be fixed. The old world lies in ruins, that person is gone, and the old version of you has ceased to exist. You cannot change that. The real breakthrough lies in something else—in dropping the armor.Through all those years of darkness, you wore a mask. You put it on every day for work, for the grocery store, showing it to all the nameless people who mindlessly flowed past your tragedy. You pretended everything was fine while a slaughter raged inside. Today, that mask is no longer needed. The return to the light begins when a broken man gains such immense self-awareness that they can, day after day, without shame, speak the loud truth about the destruction—their own and everything around them. The strangest part of it all is that you probably don't even remember the moment you won against the darkness. There was no spectacular battle, no single night that changed everything. Simply, one day you step deep inside yourself and feel that this war has come to an end. The darkness has lost its direct power over you. It no longer holds that magnetic force that commanded you to drink and destroy.

I must warn you about one thing, though: this darkness never truly disappears. It hasn't evaporated. It will always lurk somewhere on the fringes of your new world, waiting for a moment of weakness. Despite winning the battle, walking toward the light is a painfully difficult, uphill, and often deeply lonely path. It is a road that may never give you a clear vision of a finish line. There will be days when you feel its chill on your neck again. But the difference is that now you know what feeds it. You have to move toward the light. Not to forcefully glue the past back together or chase after what is gone forever. You return as a battered human being, seasoned by your own hell. And with that knowledge, you focus all your remaining strength on one thing—on building a completely new reality around yourself. Step by step. On your own terms.
